Solicitors, Falkirk

What is a Continuing and Welfare Power of Attorney?

A Continuing and Welfare Power of Attorney is a legal document that allows you to appoint another person to act on your behalf in connection with both your financial affairs and your welfare should you become incapable of acting on your own acccount. For example if you are affected by alzheimer's disease or a stroke which renders you incapable. You can appoint an Attorney to look after your financial affairs - eg looking after your bank accounts or property and also your welfare - eg giving consent to a medical procedure or arranging for you to be placed in a care home. Without such a Power of Attorney it can be a very expensive and time consuming procedure to have a guardian appointed on your behalf.

We now recommend to all our clients especially those over the age of 50 that they should a Power of Attorney in place. Should you wish to discuss a Power of Attorney then please do not hesitate to contact us. We can provide a free written quotation of the cost involved.
